Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) installs pipe and conduit underground along a steered path, under roads, rivers, and structures, without tearing up the surface above.
Directional boring, also called horizontal directional drilling, or HDD, is a trenchless method for installing underground utilities. Instead of digging an open trench the full length of the run, we drill a small pilot bore along a designed path, then pull the pipe or conduit back through it.
A rig launches the drill head at a shallow angle, and an operator steers it underground using a locating system that tracks depth and position in real time. Once the pilot bore reaches the exit point, we ream it to the finished diameter and pull the product line into place.
The result: your utility goes in under the obstacle, a road, a driveway, a creek, a parking lot, with two small work pits instead of a long open cut.

We locate existing utilities and design a bore path that clears them with safe separation. Nothing turns until the route is confirmed.
The steered drill head follows the designed path, tracked in real time for depth and alignment from entry pit to exit pit.
We enlarge the pilot bore to the diameter your product line needs, conditioning the hole for a clean pullback.
The pipe or conduit is pulled back through the reamed bore in one continuous run, installed, backfilled, and restored.
Directional boring shines when open-cut trenching would be disruptive, costly, or simply not allowed. Not sure it fits your job? Call us, we'll tell you straight.
Avoid cutting and repaving pavement, bore underneath and keep the surface intact.
Install below waterways without disturbing the banks or the flow.
Protect lawns, hardscape, and mature trees, no long trench scar to restore.
Thread new lines past existing utilities with a steered, tracked bore path.
Two small pits instead of a full-length trench, less restoration, less downtime.
A road or creek crossing that would take days to trench and restore can go in far quicker.
Less pavement repair, landscaping, and traffic control adds up to real savings.
